Texas Longhorn Steer Original Oil Painting

How could you have classic western trail drives without Texas Longhorn Steer? They have filled many epic movies with their wild and rugged demeanors. Their temperaments are fitting to what we have grown to know as the Wild West. No less sturdy a breed could have survived the Badlands. Longhorns have cemented themselves into the lore of the West just as gunfighters, Indians and cowboys.

If you look long enough perhaps he’ll tell stories untold of days gone by in the Good Ole West of yester years. If you are transported back to the old west to a wild cattle drive I’m proud to have been of assistance. If you close your eyes and hear hollering cowboys and gunshots, don’t fear you are just living the Wild West!

“STAMPEDE!!!” cowboys shout as steer run roughshod over anything in their path.  Marty Robins sang a song about a stampede that killed a cowboy while saving his boss’s daughter. He sang about how a bolt of lightning struck one night saving him from certain death by trampling of a stampede.

College football has the Texas Longhorn’s famous mascot Bevo romping on Saturdays before thousands of cheering fans.

I love subjects that have lots of character, so much so that when you look at them they seem to be an open book easily read or interpreted. I feel this way about my Texas Longhorn Steer painting. To me he is thinking come a step closer and I’ll charge!

He is right at the point of uneasiness that causes cattle to go from relaxing to being on guard and all the way to on the attack.
