I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it… I always want to see the third dimension of something… I want to come alive with the object. ~ Andrew Wyeth
Thank you everyone for stopping by Boyd Greene Fine Art for a browse. I hope you’ll enjoy this rose demonstration that I’ll be working on this weekend posting updates from the beginning to the end. The first step is the transferring of the graphite sketch I’ve worked up of the flower to a gessoed panel that I’ll be working on.
Here is the rough graphite transfer of my sketch to the panel.
Have a great weekend full of natural wonder while exploring your nearest natural habitat.

Purple Coneflower is an oil painting that I have had done for a while of one of the simple wildflowers that fill nature with their beauty. I photographed this wildflower at Sloppy Floyd State Park. It was a rainy overcast day that was ideal for my kind of art and photography.
A little Jack Russell Terrier followed us around almost all day that we nicknamed Sloppy. He didn’t leave us until the very end when he saw children playing on swings and went down to run and play with them. He was our friend for a day and fun to watch as he chased Canadian Geese and anything else he could put to running.
As most wildflowers the Coneflower is a very hardy flower that when planted in the yard is easy to care for and a pleasure to view. It is native to the mid-western and eastern United States. Flowers are arranged individually on sturdy, elongated stems with soft lavender petals surrounding an iridescent red-orange, coned center. The Purple Coneflower prefers full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soils.
This is an alla prima painting that I did in one sitting using beeswax. People have really loved it even though I spent little time painting it. Thank you everyone for stopping by Boyd Greene Fine Art for a browse. Thank you everyone for signing up for my email newsletter.
Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 5:00PM Lady Rose is a tribute to all the beautiful women that make the world a better place with their soft touch and kind words of encouragement. Sometimes we don’t take notice of their awesome achievements enough so I painted Lady Rose so that you would have to really look to see it in all its grand beauty. The moral of the story is don’t forget to take notice of the one that has helped you become the person you are today.
Mother’s Day a great holiday setup to honor those most dear to us in this life we travel. I owe so much of my success to my mom that has inspired me from a small child to be so much more than I ever could have been by myself. Thanks mom this painting is for you and so many more that have made the world a greater place to inhabit.
Thank you from Boyd Greene Fine Art to all the wonderful mothers and ladies out there that inspire the love that makes the world go around.
