The Golden Section

 

The Golden Section by author Scott Olsen is a book that I always keep on my design table to quickly reference while designing my oil paintings. The Golden Section is known to some as phi, the golden mean, or the golden ratio.

The Golden Section is “defined as a line divided into two unequal parts, such that the ratio of the shorter portion to the longer portion is the same as the longer portion to the whole.”

It has been said that the Golden Section can be found throughout nature so I’m on a quest to find out this old mystery for myself.
