Whispering Pines Old Barn Photograph
Whispering Pines is the name we gave the field in front of the house where I grew up. It was an old pasture my Papa owned where people gathered from all around to play football, baseball and softball. The fun ranged from entertaining arguments punctuated by the occasional fisticuff to the heat of competition. Usually all ended well humouredly if you had a good sense of humor. If you played ball at Whispering Pines a good sense of humor was of importance as there were lots of jesters!
As a grownup playing softball we would see who could hit further over the barn wall that you see in the picture. The wall is about 280 feet from home plate and I got quite proficient at hitting a long ways past our iconic marker.
I have a lot of great memories from this old field from sports to horse riding that I cherish by dreaming of a simpler time. Thank you for stopping by Boyd Greene Fine Art for a browse.
