Very intriguing image. The juxtaposition of the large tree against the background trees creates a bit of tension in this for me as you want to distinguish each and every branch. The snow covering really helps that definition.
Thanks so much Mark, means the world coming from you! The tree is in a pasture close to my home and I'm always intrigued by its beauty. Recently a large limb broke off but it is still quite a beautiful tree. Thanks so much for dropping by. I have a better image from a different view point but a power line is running through it sadly!
After a little more thought Mark, I wish I had of gone with a larger aperture to soften the background. I've really been working on getting more sharpness into my images and went overboard a little on this image. I've started back using manual focus on everything except animals.
As beautiful as your work is, I don't want to question your second-guessing; but I like the sharpness throughout. The background trees add to the impact of the main subject. I think Mark clarified that impact for me. It's the tension. Whatever the details of the craft, I end up wandering around happily inside this frame with no need to leave. It's powerful, complex, and altogether satisfying.
Thanks so much Anita, this tree, expecially before one of its limbs broke out, is one of the most gorgeous trees I've seen; therefore I'm probably a little humbled trying to convey its great beauty. I'm glad I live right up the road from it as it is so grand standing in a pasture with a small stream flowing by it. Thanks again for your insight and I do over think things sometimes! :)
