Adopted Rescue Horse

I’m very proud of my mom and dad for taking in a rescue horse this week. The mare they adopted has gained 500 pounds since being rescued and probably needs another 200 to 205 pounds to be back at her original weight.

She is an amazingly sweet horse considering all she has suffered through. I’ve been down twice this week to spoil her with treats. She likes to put her head over my shoulder to be petted under her chin. I think we are going to be big buddies!

One of her eyes was hurt in a trail accident by a stick. I’ve ridden a lot and have never had a horse injure its eye in such way. I’m a little skeptical of this story. Horses usually have great eye sight and she sure does in her good eye as she doesn’t miss anything that is going on often looking up before I do.

She doesn’t like to be approached on the side she cannot see out of good but she will approach me from that side which makes me feel like she is comfortable with me.

She reminds me a lot of my horse Stormy that passed away a little while back. If she was a hand shorter, then they might pass for twins.

I sure look forward to getting to know her and to coming up with a name for a special friend. Any suggestions?

Thank you for stopping by for a browse at Boyd Greene Fine Art and consider adopting a horse yourself if you have the land, the time, and the love they so need.
