Mother's Yellow Lily Original Oil Painting

Mother’s Yellow Lily is a Creative Realism flower painting that has been sitting in my studio sketched out ready to paint for years. I just couldn’t find a magical way to express what I wanted to about this gorgeous flower. The beauty I felt had no brushstrokes.

Mom loves her lilies and has planted quite a few. This one really caught my eye as it was late in the blooming season and the others had already begun to dry and wither. Therefore, I captured this one before all was lost.

I’m glad that I didn’t finish the painting before I did for it would not have been near as good.  The background was painted a few years ago a much different color than you see now. Depth is much greater now with the colors I’ve chosen and the tones are far better. The background has subtle purplish-brown tones that make the yellow flower pop off the page.

I hope you enjoy this lily and thank you for taking the time to stop by Boyd Greene Fine Art.

The colors are so beautiful. I was wandering on a hillside this year and this reminds me of the attempt to produce what God created. My shots were okay... but you painting does a much better job. I'm am constantly amazed how you manage to do what a camera cannot!

I have wondered where you disappeared to, Boyd, as my Bloglines reader wasn't updating. I'm so glad I manually checked out your link (must update that) on my blog which led me to here. What can I say....this piece is truly beautiful! The colours, the background, the texture...just perfect! :)
